Artwork requirements

  • Use a fold template: on a roll fold, the inside folding panel must be about 2 to 3 mm narrower than the others.
  • Supply the inside and outside spreads as two pages of one PDF, at flat size with 3 mm bleed.
  • Keep text at least 5 mm away from each fold line as well as from the trim.
  • Mark which panel is the front cover; panel order differs between roll and Z-folds.
  • Images at 300 dpi; colours in CMYK.
  • Avoid heavy ink coverage across fold lines, which can crack on gloss stock.

Turnaround options

Standard turnaround is confirmed on your quote. Express moves your leaflets forward on the press and folder. Same-day production may be possible for print-ready leaflets in common fold types, approved and paid for before the configured cutoff, subject to capacity and paper stock. Folding is the step that most often pushes leaflets off same-day: heavier papers need scoring, toner on some stocks needs to settle before folding to avoid cracking, and gate folds or large quantities can require hand finishing. Artwork that does not match the fold layout also needs fixing first. Production completion and delivery arrival are separate.

FAQs

What is the difference between a roll fold and a Z-fold?
A roll fold wraps the panels inward like a letter, so one panel is slightly narrower. A Z-fold zigzags like an accordion, with equal panels.
Why does my leaflet need scoring?
On thicker paper, folding without a score can crack the paper fibres and toner along the fold. Scoring creates a clean crease.
Can I fold an A3 sheet?
Yes. A3 folds to A4 for newsletters and to smaller formats for maps and guides.
Can you use my existing design for a different fold?
Usually not without rearranging, because panel sizes and order change between fold types. Allow time for adjustments.
