Materials
| Opal acrylic faces | Rigid lightbox and letter faces where light must spread evenly without visible hot spots |
|---|---|
| Flex face fabric | Large lightboxes where a single rigid sheet would be too big or heavy to handle |
| Translucent cast vinyl | Colour and lettering applied to lit faces so the colour reads correctly at night and in daylight |
| Aluminium extrusion or folded aluminium | Lightbox frames and letter returns that need to resist weather and hold their shape |
| LED modules | Low-heat, energy-conscious illumination inside boxes and letters, chosen to suit the depth and face size |
Choosing a size
Size a lit sign for the street it faces. A sign read from a passing car on a main road needs bigger letters and more spacing than one read by pedestrians in a covered walkway. Box depth matters too: a deeper box usually gives more even light across a large face. We confirm overall size, depth and fixing points during the site survey so the sign fits the façade, the landlord's guidelines and the available power point.
Standards and compliance
Illuminated signs are electrical installations. They must be connected and installed by suitably qualified people and should comply with the applicable electrical safety requirements for the site; the property owner or customer is responsible for arranging any certification their building needs. Many landlords, shopping centres and bodies corporate have signage rules and require written approval before anything is fixed to the building, and larger outdoor signs may need municipal outdoor-advertising approval. Obtaining these permissions is the customer's or landlord's responsibility; we can advise on what is usually requested and can assist with drawings for submissions.
Same-day conditions
- Fabricated and illuminated signs are made to order, so same-day is generally not possible; the lead time is confirmed on your quote after the site survey and artwork approval
- A temporary printed vinyl banner or ABS panel can sometimes be produced urgently to cover the gap while the lit sign is being made
- Replacement printed faces may be possible faster if we already have accurate measurements and approved artwork
- Any urgent stop-gap remains subject to stock, capacity, usable artwork and full payment before the configured cutoff
