Choosing a size
Glow performance depends on how much light the sign receives and how dark the space becomes, so larger signs and good placement near light sources help. Use the same viewing-distance logic as standard signs, typically A5 and A4 for corridors and offices and larger for warehouses and halls, and keep glowing signs out of areas that never receive light, where they cannot charge.
Standards and compliance
Photoluminescent safety signs in South Africa are commonly specified to follow SANS 1186 symbols and colours, and some specifications also call for a particular photoluminescent performance class. If your fire plan or consultant specifies a class, let us know before ordering so we can confirm whether available material suits it. The customer remains responsible for choosing signage that meets their obligations; we print to the artwork or specification supplied or agreed.
