Choosing a size
A combined PPE board at a site gate is read by people walking or driving in, so A2 or A1 suits most entrances, with each symbol given equal space. Single PPE signs on workshop doors or machine stations are often A4 or A5. Place the sign before the hazard zone, not inside it, so people can put equipment on before entering.
Standards and compliance
PPE signs in South Africa usually follow the SANS 1186 mandatory sign format: blue circles with white pictograms. The OHS Act and its regulations require employers to assess hazards and provide suitable protective equipment where needed. The customer remains responsible for deciding what PPE is required and signing it correctly; we print to the artwork or specification supplied or agreed.
