Choosing a size
Size wayfinding signs for the point where someone must decide which way to go. Directories at entrances are read while standing, so A2 or A1 suits a busy building. Corridor arrows are often A4 landscape, and door identification signs smaller. Use consistent colours, fonts and arrow styles throughout so people learn the system quickly.
Standards and compliance
General wayfinding signs have no single mandatory format, but escape route signs must not be confused with them, so keep emergency signs in the SANS 1186 green safe-condition style and use different colours for general directions. Accessibility guidance in SANS 10400 Part S may also be relevant for public buildings. The customer remains responsible for the overall signage plan; we print to the artwork or specification supplied or agreed.
